FIFA Confederations Cup 2009

One year before every football World cup, the best teams from all continents test their skills in the country hosting the great event at the FIFA Confederations Cup. It is the general rehearsal for the upcoming highlight. South Africa, where the World Cup 2010 will take place, will also take up this tradition and hosts the competition, shortly called "Confed-Cup".
From June 14 to 28, 2009, the champions of the six continents, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North- and South America, next to the host South Africa and World Champion Italy test their skills. Four of the altogether ten World Cup Stadiums will then be the venues of certainly exciting matches. The professionals will then give their first performances! Matches will take place in the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein (capacity: 40.000 spectators), in Ellis-Park-Stadium in Johannesburg (60.000), in the Loftus-Versfeld-Stadium in Pretoria (50.000), and in Royal-Bafukeng-Stadion in Rustenburg (40.000).
A visit to South Africa during this time is especially recommendable, as not just football constitutes the special attraction of the places of venues. Next to the everyday points of interest, many special events will wait for visitors from around the world. A trip to South Africa during this period, a first foretaste of what will be ahead at the World Cup 2010, is really a good idea!
