Climate South Africa

Africa and its climate: Who does not think of blistering heat, unbearable humidity in the rain forests and tropical temperatures altogether? This may be true for some countries of the "Black Continent", but whoever travels to South Africa does not need to worry. For in South Africa, the climate is marked as well by the high altitude of the mainland as by the two ocean currents, Benguela and Alghulas. The result: Extremely pleasant temperatures for Central Europeans, and an almost Mediterranean climate.

Nevertheless, across the large country conditions are fairly similar- the capital Pretoria, being situated closer to the tropics, is not markedly hotter than Cape Town, as it is situated in an altitude of more than 1000 meters. Generally, at the East Coast, at the warmer Indian Ocean, temperatures are an average of six degrees Celsius higher than at the West Coast, which is situated at the Atlantic Ocean. But also those who love heat will not be disappointed by the South African climate - in summer, in the interior, the mercury may climb without any problems to more than 30 degrees Celsius.
