You can spend your day relaxing and sunbathing on the beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay or Sea Point, and on their sea front promenades stretching over many kilometres. If you are less sun hungry, you can stroll through the forest areas of the "Cape Town Oasis", Green Point. On the sea front, you can watch inline skaters, joggers and cyclists, or you engage in some sports yourselves on the gulf and tennis lawns. "Ratanga Junction" theme park with relaxed to wild fun rides, stunt shows and a 3D cinema, and the "Two Oceans Aquarium", are ideal for a family trip. The aquarium is known as one of the best underwater theme parks worldwide, displaying more than 300 fish species in 30 basins. The cultural and, at the same time, commercial heart of Cape Town beats at Adderley Street: In this colourful street you can stroll through antique shops, boutiques and second hand bookshops, or you can listen to street music from a café in the pedestrian zone of St. George's Street.
Next to its many small museums, Cape Town has three large museum complexes: The Slave Lodge, committed to the history of the city with its collections of ceramics, tools, toys, textiles and jewellery, the South African National Gallery with contemporary South African and European paintings, sculptures, photographs, masks, dolls, and textile works, as well as the South African Museum. The South African Museum is the largest and oldest museum in the country, showing the natural history of South Africa; affiliated to it is the planetarium. The open air shows in town are a special tip for theatre- and concert lovers. The Shakespeare performances in Maynardville Open Air Theatre are famous, as well as the classical music performed in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and on the shore of the Liesbeeck river - under an open sky. Another attraction for visitors from all over the world, are the many shopping centres in Cape Town and its suburbs. Huge Centres, the so-called shopping malls, offer not only goods for every day consumption, but also South African art, clothes, and accessories made of Buffalo- and ostrich leather. The best known shopping centres are the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront at the harbour, Constantia Village with its noble boutiques, Canal Walk with 400 shops, 18 cinemas and many restaurants as well as the Cape Quarter in the De Waterkant district, offering mainly hip goods for young customers.
